Skiing
The 'Portes du Soleil' with its 209 ski lifts, is the biggest skiing area in the
world! It stretches from 1000 to 2466m, between France and
Switzerland. 248 ski slopes link 12 resorts in France and Switzerland. (Taken
from Morzine Summer/Winter brochure 2010).
Morzine is the most impressive of the Portes du Soleil resorts. The Portes du
Soleil offers an extensive range of skiing and snow-boarding at all levels of
competence, linking Avoriaz, Chatel, Les Gets, Morgins and Switzerland.
Le Pleney skiing, south of the resort offers skiing for both beginners and
intermediate skiers. The ESF and British Ski School both offer lessons here.
From the top of the lift there is an extensive choice of runs either back to
Morzine or over to Les Gets. Morzine skiing is not only for the beginner as
there are a number of challenging black runs.
When snow allows, it is possible to ski back to the apartment from the top of
this lift by following Piste B, leaving the path at marker No.4, and dropping
down the bank to the road at the back of the apartment.
Avoriaz is THE reference point for all fans of new snow sports. 'Avoriaz Snowzone' has 4 snowcrosses, 1 canyon on the ski-slopes, 1 boardercross,
1 superpipe and 4 snowparks, one of which is ecological and can be found in the Lindarets forest.
